What to Know Before You Go
Timing and crowd strategies are crucial for making the most of Halloween Horror Nights. Follow these tips to help you navigate the event smoothly and maximize your scare experience:
- The best nights to visit are September weekdays, especially Wednesdays, which tend to be less busy and offer shorter wait times than dates throughout October.
- To avoid long lines, start at the haunted houses in the back of the park first.
- Of all the killer reasons to consider staying right up until the 2 AM closing time, the best is that wait times for haunted houses and rides generally decrease after midnight.
What to Bring & Wear
Comfort is key when attending Halloween Horror Nights. Here are some tips to help you prepare:
- Wear comfortable shoes, as you can expect lots of walking and standing.
- Pack layers and a poncho, not an umbrella, because Florida evenings can be hot, humid, or suddenly rainy and this spooky event occurs rain or shine.
- Bring an empty refillable water bottle; you can’t take drinks in but there are water stations throughout the resort.
- Earplugs are optional but advised, as haunted houses and shows can be very loud.
Costume and Mask Policies
Costumes, masks, and face paint are prohibited at Halloween Horror Nights to maintain safety and security. This policy ensures a clear line of sight for event security and helps maintain an immersive atmosphere.
On Premium Scream Night, however, guests can wear costumes, provided they do not obscure their face entirely.
Halloween Horror Nights Tickets
Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios are separately ticketed events so you won’t be able to experience them using a general admissio ticket.
Halloween Horror Night Sigle Night Tickets provide access to the full event at an affordable price. For those looking to experience the event multiple times, multi-night passes are available, including the Rush of Fear Pass and the Frequent Fear Pass.
If you hate waiting in line consider purchasing an Express Pass in addition to your ticket which allow you to skip the line one time at each haunted house, ride, and attraction.
Purchasing tickets in advance is strongly recommended because Halloween Horror Nights often sell out, particularly during October. You can buy them online at the Universal Orlando website or via the Universal Orlando Resort app which is available for free download from the App Store and Google Play.
We advise that you complete the app download for all visits to Universal Orlando. The app has a range of handy features like ticket purchasing, interactive maps, and event updates to help you manage your visit efficiently.
